Second Baptist Church, founded in 1836 by thirteen former slaves who broke with First Baptist of Detroit, is the oldest African-American church in the Midwest and served as a station on the Underground Railroad; its current building at 441 Monroe Street in Greektown was erected in 1914.

A personal welcome from me: Live Church Network is being built to help every church have a welcoming online home and help every person find a community where they belong. Whether you are here to discover a church, grow your church community, share a prayer, or simply look around, I am glad you are here. Please send me your ideas, feedback, and the features that would make this platform more helpful for you. We are building this together. — Mike
